Before you even setup your webstats program, before you even setup that website, you setup Google sitemaps. You make sure that you've setup a proper XML sitemap and that you've validated the sitemap with a validation tool and if you have no idea what I'm talking about, type in "Google Sitemap Generator" in the Google search bar.
What Are Sitemaps Used for ?
Originally sitemaps were designed to help users navigate large websites that are not easy to navigate. Websites that did not have search functionality within the site for whatever reason and at a later stage added to sites to help search engines spider their website easily thereby assisting in indexing all the pages on their sites.
Google then stepped to the plate and decided they'd make Google sitemaps available to the public. What Google sitemaps is, is a program that allows users to see what the Google spider see's... AMAZING! It's so so powerful and if you're site is getting indexed often enough, you can track changes, monitor broken links, pick up new keywords to target in your SEO strategy before Google even realises :). It's a competitive intelligence tool of note.
