The Ivolution SEO Team does PubCon 2007
The WebmasterWorld.com conference in Las Vegas!

WebmasterWorld Pubcon 2007

Fortunate enough to be one of the few South Africans to have been lucky enough to have attended one of the Pubcon webmaster world conferences and the only South African SEO representative at the Pubcon 2007 WebmasterWorld conference in Las Vegas this year, I thought it would only be fair for me to share my experiences with the world. Take a little browse through our collection of photo's.

Enom Domain Names
Heard of the Enom group. No? Heard of MySpace, thought so. Well Richard Roseblatt previous founder and owner of Myspace.com and CEO of new award winning domain registrar and hosting company Enom gave an amazing talk at the Webmaster Pubcon Conference about the power of the internet and the future of online video's. If you'd like to read a little more about online video's and harnessing the power of video marketing check out this article... Yes that's his car that he drove into the conference room.

Google
As always the ever present Google team were waiting with baited breath for some feedback from potential clients and users. They had some experts from the Analytics team which couldn't answer one of my questions (Matt Cutts to the rescue) and a couple of adwords guys. Of course I managed to corner Matt Cutts (Google's public man) and grab a quick photo with him. Even though it was my first Pubcon conference I was a little disappointed that Google didn't organise a massive bash. Did get a Google, Pubcon yoyo though.

Joe Bucks
I was in Vegas, I saw the dude on the poster sitting with a cigarette at the JoeBucks.com stall and it reminded me of a poker player from the 60's, so I took the photo. Call me weird. Thanks to BigBucks, they gave everyone an awesome bag to carry all you pamphlets and goodies in. Another great gimmick and souvenir from the Pubcon Conference.

Yahoo
Hey, what's a conference without Yahoo. The problem was, there were no Yahoo staff present. There was however a big presence from the RIght Media boys. Funny, not one rightmedia poster or banner. Looks like you guys have lost your branding :). Another step forward in Yahoo's attempt at online media domination. Hehe, yeah right!

Pubcon Exibition
Another day after an afternoon of talks. A funny story quickly; the day I arrived in Vegas (coming from South Africa please note) I hopped into a cab. After finally striking up a conversation with a pakistani cab driver I told him that I was here for a massive conference "PubCon Las Vegas 2007". He said to me what??? I said a Google conference to which he smiled and nodded. Anyway's, he asked me what size the conference was to which I replied, I think around 4000 people. This cab driver laughed his head off! HE said, 4000 people, that's how many people I give lifts too on a daily basis, a big conference in Vegas you're looking at 400 000 people. To which I nodded and kept quiet for the rest of the trip...

Moniker Auctions
Monkier domain auction. Yeah, my first time auction and it was fun. In fact I think it was the first domain name auction in the history of Pubcon. HISTORY in the making, sweet... Anyway's, it was fun and I ended buying a domain for $700 without thinking about the exchange rate :) R4500 eeek!!! There were domains on auction for $1Million. Yeah, can you freakin believe it!

I do have more Pubcon photo's which I will most definitely put up as soon as I get my ass around to doing it! Thanks to Webmaster World for a wicked conference. See you next year FOR SURE!!!
