The Big Guns in Social Bookmarking
When I first started doing SEO, the first thing I'd search for in Google after reading a good article was "Popular XXX Sites" or "Top XXX Sites" - AND NO XXX IS NOT PORN FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH FILTHY MINDS. So here is my TOP 10 or MOST POPULAR list of Social Bookmarking Websites.
Most Popular Social Bookmark Sites in sOuth Africa
Muti - An amazing little site.
Which are the most POpular social bookmarking sites?
Those of you in the know will know exactly what this list looks like but it's great for you startups!
Digg - Probably the most famous of all social bookmarking services, Digg is an incredible way to get traffic to your site; however don't expect your traffic to last too long. They currently have an estimated unique visitor count of 9 million people. A predominantly male audience of techno geeks ranging from ages 18 - 24. Topics that generally do well on DIGG, interesting photo's, exciting incidents in the coporate world and Top 10 lists.
StumbleUpon - StumbleUpon is the fatest growing social bookmarking site in the world. What's so great about StumbleUpon is the ease of use. It's fun and you'll find and "stubmleupon" content that you would never have found on any Google search or site. They currently boast a modest 1.2 million visitors a month. This site seems to target women from the ages of 35 - 50 . This works on with a Toolbar that's instlled in your browser. Unlike Digg, the traffic from StumbleUpon seems to be more consistent and spread out over time. The more people that hit that StumbleUpon button on their browser, the more popular your site becomes.
Del.icoi.us - Famous, and old, one of the fore fathers of the social bookmarking scene more recenlty purchased by Yahoo, Del.icio.us is a good solid bookmark site that delivers good traffic. The funny thing about this site that boasts 2.5 million odd unique visitors a month, their audience seems to be males between ages 35 - 65.
Reddit - My favourite and one that I found good success on with mortgage and real estate related articles and sites, Reddit seems to be a winner with any business related topics. With a average of a million visitors a month a predominantly male audience between 35 - 55 it's definately my suggestion as the one to start off with.
